with this post I would like to introduce my gear - meaning what am I using to take my photos. Not only camera, but also little helpers like tripod, ball-head and flashes.
First of all - I shoot with Nikon. I own my digital SLR Nikon D50 since the beginning of 2006 and haven't changed until now. I think I will stick to this great camera, because it suits well - hmm, at least in most of the situations. Sometimes I miss some small functions and a little more speed, but as I said - it works great. But if anyone has to give away a free Nikon D300 - just mail me, you are welcome ;-).

On the left you can see a picture of the camera. The lens mounted is the Nikkor 18-55 standard kit zoom lens. I have been using it since I started and still use it. This is because, this lens performs reasonably fine as a standard kit lens and I am really satisfied with it. Of course it is not as sharp as others (e.g. 17-55mm 2.8)...but that doesn't matter that much for now. Regarding the performance of the kit lens there is a very good review on photozone.
Some more details on the Nikon D50 maybe:
- 6.1 mega pixel DX sensor (1.5 crop factor)
- 2.5 images a second (raw-format)
- all the usual stuff of course - for more details please see the Nikon page

As additional lense I use the kit tele-zoom 55-200mm (see picture) in the first version (non-VR) which is always a bit too short - I plan to update here during the next month (either a 300mm zoom lens or a 70-200mm 2.8).
An other support lens, which in my opinion is very stunning for the price and belongs in every photo bag is the Nikkor AF 50mm 1.8D. This lens is great for available light photography and also for portrait shots. The rest of my stuff is listed below and I consider all pieces as sufficient for my purposes. The quality is mostly exceptional from my point of view.
- Bag: LowePro Sling Shot 200AW
- Flash: Nikon SB-800 (absolutely great and flexible, great additional stuff in the box, when delivered)
- ML-3 infrared trigger
- Manfrotto 680B Monopod
- No-Name Aluminium Tripod
- Manfrotto 486RC Ball Head
- several batteries for camera and flash (eneloops work great for the flash)
- several GBs of SD-Cards
- Buffalo Link Station Pro Duo 500 GB Raid 1 to store my photos
Regards,
Hannes
